Hi! While I'm taking time off from modifying Ultimate Battle 22, I'm trying my hand at doing some translation work on New Japan and Yukes's second outing on the PlayStation. So far, I got the main menu and some UI elements translated via editing the TIM files inside the PAC file and some hex editing: However, I have now hit a roadblock when translating the other parts of the UI, such as the pause screen here: After some digging, I found out that how this works is that the font used is basically stored in this image: Which, coincidentally, is also stored in the same PAC file as text: Now, the problem is this: some of the text, such as the one encircled in Exhibit A: 技名称表示 (waza meisho hyouji/technique name display), can be edited by manipulating the TIM file. Meanwhile, the ones encircled in Exhibit B work like this: the game reads the text and then loads the appropriate letter in the font table TIM file (at least that's how I see it when I checked it via the VRAM viewer on NO$PSX). The thing is, I can't seem to find the text inside the PAC file via hex editing. As far as I know about the PAC file being used here, it seems that Yukes was using an older version of the compression algorithm they use on their newer games (the WWE games up until 2k19), so I don't know exactly how I can find the texts used in Exhibit B. Any help on finding the other UI text would be appreciated here or how can I at least edit the Japanese sections of the font table into something that makes sense in English.
