Thwocker is a unreleased game by Activision and was only been released as a Unfinished Prototype game By Charlie Heath. the Conceived designer.
This game is originally a FE Bankswitched 8KB game. Since this is another Prototype that was never released ever (Let alone in PAL territories) I was able to convert this game from NTSC to PAL.
I used the Stella Debugger to convert the game to PAL 50fps to see what could have been a great Action game for PAL territories. And did the rest on Hack-O-Matic III assign the correct colours to the sprites of the player, enemies and Background colours for each level..
In Thwocker, the object is to gather the musical notes in the correct order as indicated in the status area, while also avoiding the flying musical instruments. To control your bouncing character, move the joystick left or right for direction, and move it up to increase the height of your bounce. Be sure to push up just when you bounce, don't press up continuously. Press and hold the fire button to decrease the height of your bounce (push the joystick down at the same time to decrease height even faster). Once you have collected the proper musical notes, grab the large note at the top of the level. At that point, a tune will begin playing and you can now grab all the remaining musical notes, as well as the musical instruments.
Being a Prototype that is 80% completed. In order to proceed the next level, you will have to use the select toggle on the console to select Levels 1-16. or if using Stella, pressing "F1" on the keyboard to select level.
***NOTE: If you are to play this on real hardware using a Harmony Cart. You may experience the colour on the top of the playfield to flash different colours due to the Kernel switching between 312 Scanlines and 313 Scanlines. You won't notice it on Stella or on a Modded Atari 2600 console that has Tim Worthington's 2600RGB Mod kit installed. You will experience that on unmodded RF or simple A/V - S-Video Modded Atari 2600 consoles. Just a fair headsup. This game WILL NOT work on the new 2600+ nor 7800+ ***
This is considered released AS-IS / Unfinished due to being a Prototype. You will need to search for the Prototype ROM online to patch this. I will not provide one due to this site's Rules, Terms and Services.
